Patriots offensive lineman Logan Mankins has a little under a month to sign the one-year, $3.3 million tendered offer the Pats sent his way this offseason.

Come June 15, the two-time Pro Bowler and restricted free agent can accept the offer or watch the club drop that tender to 110 percent of his 2009 salary. In the meantime, both parties have been in touch in regards to getting a long-term deal done, but nothing seems to be going well just yet.

"There has been discussions," Mankins' rep Frank Bauer told the Boston Herald on Sunday. "We’re pretty far apart. Let’s leave it at that."

Although talks have got off to a rocky start, the team certainly isn't giving up on the disgruntled 28-year-old.

"Our people are working on that," owner Robert Kraft added. "I really hope Logan will be with us for the long term. That is our objective."
