World Cup Day 3 Roundup: Easy Germany Win Highlights Day of Shutouts After the third day of the World Cup, 16 of the tournament's 32 teams have played their first match.

Sunday offered some late-match excitement early on, with the day's first two games both being decided in the final 11 minutes. Germany played its first game without prolific scorer and leader Michael Ballack, who is out with injury.

Slovenia 1, Algeria 0
A day after England goalkeeper Robert Green flubbed an easy save to allow the U.S. to tie England, the World Cup witnessed another blunder in goal. Algeria netminder Faouzi Chaouchi took a terrible angle on a shot at the top of the box from Slovenia's Robert Koren, letting the ball careen off his arm and into the corner of the net in the 79th minute.

Ghana 1, Serbia 0
Serbia committed a handball in the box with seven minutes to play, and a minute later, Ghana's Asamoah Gyan buried the penalty kick for a 1-0 lead. The Serbs also lost their center defender for their next match against Germany after he picked up two yellow cards.

Germany 4, Australia 0
German forward Lukas Podolski scored a goal and added an assist to lead the way for Germany. Podolski scored in the seventh minute and was one of four German goal scorers. Australian midfielder Tim Cahill was ejected from the match after receiving a red card.
