Kerry Wood was happy to get off the disabled list. He has to be ecstatic that he gets to jump from the last-place Cleveland Indians to the first-place New York Yankees.

According to the media reports, the Indians will send Wood and cash to the Yankees for a player to named. The exchanged money needs to be approved by commissioner Bud Selig, so the trade remains unofficial.

The Yankees, like many contenders, have been looking to strengthen their bullpen, and Wood could provide a boost.

The 33-year-old reliever came off the disabled list Saturday after battling a blister and has only pitched 20 innings for Cleveland this year, allowing 14 earned runs for a 6.30 ERA. He has struck out 18 and walked 11 in those 23 appearances.
