Outfielder Tyler Colvin scored in the second inning of the Cubs 13-3 win over the Marlins on Sunday, but the hit that brought him in also resulted in freak injury.

Wellington Castillo shattered his bat on the RBI ground-rule double, and the biggest fragment impaled Colvin, puncturing his chest around the collar bone and causing air to enter through the chest wall.

Doctors have treated Colvin to prevent a collapsed lung as a result, and he is expected miss the rest of the season.

Colvin was hitting .254 with 20 home runs in 2010.
