Jose Canseco has never had a problem staying out of the spotlight. A force to be reckoned with on the field, his career was surrounded by off-the-field controversy.

The Bash Brother has a knack for thinking the universe revolves around him. Last week, Canseco reached out to Eastbound and Down producers on Twitter offering his help, because he claims the main character on the show, Kenny Powers, is based on himself.

Now, Canseco has another opportunity to get his mug on television.

Donald Trump has hand-selected the former slugger to be a candidate on the upcoming season of The Celebrity Apprentice, according to TMZ.com.

Canseco will be joined by Lil Jon, Niki Taylor, original Survivor winner Richard Hatch and Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath.

The show has included several athletes over the years, including Lennox Lewis, Jennie Finch, Herschel Walker, Dennis Rodman, Scott Hamilton, Michael Johnson and Darryl Strawberry.
