Junior Seau Says Car Accident Wasn’t a Suicide Attempt

Although the events leading up to his accident were traumatic, Junior Seau said he wasn't attempting suicide when his car veered off a beachside cliff in Carlsbad, Calif. early Monday morning.

According to a report by TMZ, Seau told officials he nodded off at the wheel, causing him to drive his Cadillac Escalade over a cliff. The accident came just hours after the former NFL All-Pro was arrested for domestic violence against his 25-year-old girlfriend.

Seau also told the police that he "never intended to drive off the cliff."

Police reported that Seau did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but a blood test was taken and the results will be determined in approximately six weeks. The accident remains under investigation.
