The national title picture may not yet be remotely clear, but the list of contenders has been whittled down to a handful of likely teams.

While being on that list may be nothing new for the Oklahoma Sooners, they are the only usual suspects in the conversation. Texas, USC and Florida are all surely out of the hunt, and Ohio State and Alabama are now longshots as well.

Instead, the likes of like Oregon, Boise State, TCU and Michigan State find themselves in the uncharted territory of having real title hopes past the halfway point of the season.
