Bill Belichick Declines Comment on Josh McDaniels’ Spygate Fiasco in Denver

All's fair in love and Spygate.

So, deserved or not, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked publicly for the first time about his thoughts on the situation in Denver, and Belichick predictably reneged on getting into specifics.

"I'm really focused on the Jets," Belichick said.

Over the weekend, Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, a former Belichick assistant, was fined $50,000 for his involvement in a Spygate scandal. A Broncos video coordinator, Steve Scarnecchia, who is the son of Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia, videotaped a 49ers walkthrough prior to their game in London last month. McDaniels didn't immediately report the incident to the league, which is a fine-worthy offense. The Denver organization was also fined $50,000.

Because of Belichick's own videotaping scandal in 2007, as well as his connection to McDaniels and Scarnecchia, it was only a matter of time until the Patriots' head coach was asked about the matter in Denver.

And, because it would be absolutely foolish for Belichick to offer his thoughts on that situation, which would undoubtedly open the floodgates to further questions, he declined to spill it.
