WILMINGTON, Mass. — While the Bruins added yet another center to their injured list with David Krejci now sidelined with a moderate concussion, there was some good news on the injury front on Monday.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli stated he continues to be encouraged by the strides that Marc Savard is making in his recovery from a severe concussion suffered last March. Savard returned to play in the second round of the playoffs in May but had a recurrence of post-concussion symptoms over the summer and has yet to play this season.

"Nothing beyond that he's starting to feel like he's in good shape," said Chiarelli when asked for an update on Savard's progress. "There hasn't been any lingering side effects that we talked about earlier on in his rehab. He was in very good spirits. I wouldn't say he's champing at the bit yet, but I think we're almost at that corner of the turnaround."

Despite the encouraging signs, Chiarelli couldn't commit to a return date for Savard.

"Timetables are difficult, but to me he seemed in good shape, good spirits," said Chiarelli. "I wouldn't say he's close, but he's getting there."

Chiarelli was more definitive about Marco Sturm's return from offseason knee surgery, which should be in about a month.

"I saw two or three of their workouts last week, and both of them looked good," said Chiarelli of Savard and Sturm. "I don't want to hammer down a timetable [for Sturm's return], but my guess is maybe the first week or 10 days of December."
