Former Celtics All-Star Antoine Walker hasn’t been in the NBA since struggling with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2007-08 season, and while comeback attempts are nothing new for the forward who has often been in the headlines for the wrong reasons, his dedication to the effort may be increasing.

According to Fanhouse, Walker is planning to begin his return to the NBA in the NBDL, and may sign as soon as Monday, says a league source close to the situation.

The former sixth-overall pick last made a comeback attempt in the Puerto Rican league with Mets de Guaynabo, averaging 12.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game playing alongside former fourth-overall draft pick, Marcus Fizer.

Walker was actually signed by the Memphis Grizzlies prior to the 2008-09 season, but he never played and was released in December. More recently, he practiced with the Charlotte Bobcats this summer, but he failed to earn a spot at camp. Still, Walker was reported to be in as good of shape as he has been in a long time during his stint in Charlotte.

The 34-year-old Walker would not be the oldest player in the NBDL. That honor would go to Antonio Daniels, currently playing for the Texas Legends on his own comeback trail.
