Congressman, Former Quarterback Heath Shuler Says He’ll Carry Handgun in Wake of Arizona Shooting

With the tragic shooting in Arizona over the weekend that critically wounded U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, North Caorlina Representative and former Redskins quarterback Heath Shuler is trying to take his safety into his own hands.

According to WTKR-3 in Virginia, Shuler has said that he'll now carry a concealed handgun for all of his public events. Girrords was shot at a public event on Saturday in an attack that killed six and wounded 14 more, including the Congresswoman.

Shuler, who spent four years in the NFL, was elected to Congress in 2008.
