Jim Nantz, Phil Simms Criticized for Alleged Patriots Bias During Telecast

The New England Patriots have already lost, and the New York Jets will be battling for the AFC Championship on Sunday. Why, then, is there a need to complain about yet more Patriots bias?

Media critic Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News recently claimed that Phil Simms and Jim Nantz, CBS’ No. 1 NFL broadcast team, were favoring the New England Patriots during last weekend’s broadcast.

Isn’t there enough trash talking on the field that would suffice for Raissman, instead of stirring up some of his own?

Thankfully, though, Simms and Nantz don’t mind the criticism.

As Fanhouse.com points out, Nantz was quick to note that the piece “came out of New York,” adding that the way Raissman, “writes [and] talks in inflammatory terms, talks, to me, in over the top language. If I talked like that on air, people would say that’s a little bit … too strong.”

Simms also responded, “I just go by what I see and try to be as honest as I can.” He mentions how you can’t worry about upsetting others because he is just there to observe and comment on what he sees, not protect any certain person or team.
