Rajon Rondo Returns to Celtics Lineup for Clash With Banged-Up Raptors

We always knew Rajon Rondo had a flair for the dramatic, didn’t we?

Minutes after meeting with the Celtics’ coaches and trainers and deciding that he wouldn’t play Sunday night, taking one more day to recover from a sprained ankle, the Celtics’ point guard changed his mind at the last second. Rondo is now back in the Celtics’ starting five, ready to take on the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

This means Nate Robinson, who’s started the last seven games during Rondo’s absence, goes back to the bench. The Celtics are 1-1 this season against the Raptors — one win with Rondo at the point (110-101 on Nov. 26) and one loss with Robinson (102-101 on Nov. 21).

The Raptors, meanwhile, haven’t been so lucky with their own injury woes. Reggie Evans and Peja Stojakovic are both out indefinitely, and coach Jay Triano has elected to sit down three more rotation players — Andrea Bargnani, Sonny Weems, Jerryd Bayless — with minor day-to-day injuries.

Here’s the complete lineup card for C’s-Raptors:

Celtics
Rajon Rondo, PG
Ray Allen, SG
Paul Pierce, SF
Glen Davis, PF
Shaquille O’Neal, C

Raptors
Jose Calderon, PG
DeMar DeRozan, SG
Linas Kleiza, SF
Amir Johnson, PF
Joey Dorsey, C
