This is not your average fall from glory.

Members of the Russian World Junior Hockey Championship hockey team apparently celebrated their victory over Canada a little too much on Wednesday night, as several members were kicked off their flight out of Buffalo on Thursday morning, according to WGRZ in Buffalo, N.Y.

“According to police, the players were thrown off of a Delta flight scheduled to leave Buffalo-Niagara International Airport because members of the team were intoxicated,” the report states. “Team members were seen sitting in the baggage claim area after their flight took off.”

WIVB.com obtained the following statement from Delta:

“The crew of flight 1266 opted to deny boarding to 30 passengers displaying unruly behavior to ensure the safe operation of the flight. These passengers will be rebooked on a future flight.”

The under-20 team defeated Canada 5-3 in Buffalo on Tuesday. The legal drinking age in Russia is 18, though they were likely on American soil. If they had been bold enough to cross the border into Canada after defeating the hockey team, the drinking age would have been 19 in Ontario, so the 18-year-old teams would have been underage regardless.
