It's the age of social media. Athletes take to Twitter where their followers read tweets about injuries, games and controversies. They have fan pages on Facebook, and bloggers can't publish enough posts in a day. But never before has a team had a social media center for all of the Internet buzz … until now.

On Wednesday, the New Jersey Devils launched Mission Control, a state-of-the-art room located at the Devils' executive offices at the Prudential Center in Newark, NHL.com reports.

The room will function as the hub for all social and digital media efforts by the team. The social media center is equipped with nine computer monitors, 10 Apple iPads and two flat screen televisions.

More interesting than the technology in the media center are the people running it. A group of 25 of the most passionate and active Devils fans known as the Devils' Army Generals will monitor, inform and engage the Devils' fanbase from Mission Control.
