In their quest to add enough pieces to make the 2011 season work, the Yankees have acquired outfielder Justin Maxwell in a trade with the Washington Nationals. Jon Morosi of Foxsports.com is reporting that the Nationals will acquire pitcher pitcher Adam Olbrychowski in the deal.

Maxwell, 27, made his MLB debut with Washington in 2007, and he's appeared in 122 total games. He's hit just .201 with nine homers, 26 RBIs and a .379 slugging percentage. Four of those RBIs made him temporarily famous, as he hit a walk-off grand slam against the Mets in September of 2009.

Maxwell's agency, CAA, made the announcement via Twitter. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2005 draft.

The Yankees, who designated outfielder Jordan Parraz for assignment to make room for the trade, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, have also signed Andruw Jones to add outfield depth.
