Sidney Crosby Skates for First Time Since January Sidney Crosby probably hasn't spent two and a half months away from the ice since he was 3 years old, but the star's long absence from skating has finally come to an end.

The 23-year-old has been out of action since Jan. 5, when Victor Hedman pinned his head against the boards. That hit came just four days after Crosby got hit in the jaw by David Steckel in the Winter Classic. Crosby's been suffering from a concussion ever since, but the Penguins announced Monday morning that he skated for the first time.

They also released this Big Foot-esque footage of the captain returning to the ice.
