Ryan Kesler Says He Left Ice to Call Home in Game 5, Not Because of Injury

As it turns out, Canucks forward Ryan Kesler wasn't hurt at all during the second period of Tuesday's Game 5 victory against the Sharks.

He was just auditioning for husband of the year.

Kesler was asked to explain why he limped off the ice and missed a few shifts of the Canucks' series clincher, and he said he just had to take care of a potential fire hazard at home.

"I just had to go call my wife," Kesler deadpanned, according to the Vancouver Sun. "I thought I'd left the iron on."

See, Canucks fans have no need to worry about the left leg that gave out while he was trying to check Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle. Really, it was just a nervous tick after Kesler remembered earlier in the day he was ironing his postgame slacks and forgot to pull the plug.

It happens to the best of them.
