Charlie Sheen Tells Sports Illustrated He Used Steroids to Prepare for Role as Ricky 'Wild Thing' Vaughn in 'Major League' The Charlie Sheen crazy train just keeps on rolling, one stop after another.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated as part of its "Where are they now?" issue, Sheen tells the magazine that in order to prepare for his role as Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn in Major League, he took steroids.

"Let's just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit." says Sheen. "It was the only time I ever did steroids. I did them for like six or eight weeks. You can print this, I don't give a f—. My fastball went from 79 to like 85."

As a fan of baseball, Sheen knew right away that he wanted to be involved with the film

"When I saw the script it wasn't like catnip," the movie and television star says. "It was like crack."

Sheen, who also appeared in Major League II and Eight Men Out, has proven that he can hold his own on the diamond (Looking at you, Tim Robbins). In fact, some of his high school managers and coaches think that he might have even had a shot at playing pro ball.

In the article, former big league catcher Steve Yeager admits that of all the actors, Sheen was one of the most natural with baseball.

"I didn't have to do much [teaching] for Charlie," he says. "We had him on a radar gun, and he was throwing in the mid-80s."

Now, Sheen may have a chance to reprise his role as "Wild Thing." Original writer and director David S. Ward says that he has written another sequel for the franchise, where Vaughn is staging a comeback to get back into baseball 20 years later.

Asked if he would be interested, the former Two and a Half Men headliner replies, "I'm in. F—, yeah."
