Eric Naposki, who appeared in four games with the New England Patriots as a linebacker in 1988 and 1989, is set to appear in court on murder charges, the Daily Pilot of Costa Mesa, Calif., reports.

Naposki, 44, is charged with the 1994 murder of Bill McLaughlin, the husband of Nanette Ann Packard, whom Naposki was dating.

Naposki allegedly entered McLaughlin’s house on Dec. 15, 1994, using a key Packard gave him, and shot McLaughlin six times, the Pilot reports.

Packard had a $1 million life insurance policy on McLaughlin, according to the Pilot, citing court records.
