So Captain America has been a fan of America’s Team all along.

Who knew?

The Dallas Cowboys sent chills up the spines of pretty much everyone in the world when they announced Tuesday that they were partnering with Marvel Entertainment to release a line of superhero-themed Cowboys apparel.

That’s right, folks. Now, not only will everyone in the world know you belong to the second-most obnoxious group of fans in sports (the undisputed No. 1 resides in the Bronx), but you’ll also have the Incredible Hulk on your chest.

Winning.

“The Marvel/Dallas Cowboys collection for infants, kids, and adults will include T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, caps and onesies,” reads a statement on the Cowboys’ website.

There were no details as to whether the onesie was specially made for sobbing wide receivers to wear while telling reporters, “That’s my quarterback … sniff, sniff.”

Just so we’re on the same page, there’s nothing wrong with geekiness. Many NESN fans are admitted sports geeks, and there are enough comic book geeks to make superhero movies a multi-billion dollar genre. You may even see me tooling around on my day off wearing my Superman T-shirt or a hoodie featuring the logo of my favorite team.

But the two together? On the same article of clothing? That’s a little much. It’s almost like trying to see how much embarrassing content you can fit on a piece of fabric.

Plus, even among comic book characters, there are levels of geekiness. Some, like Batman and Iron Man, can be kind of cool, and some are, well, Thor.

The God of Thunder has been featured on sports paraphernalia before, and that was nothing less than ridiculous.

So enjoy your new apparel, Cowboys fans, and we’ll enjoy laughing at you. Actually, it won’t be that different from our current reaction whenever we’re reminded that your quarterback (when healthy) is Tony Romo.
