Six months after nearly signing Charlie Adam from Blackpool during the transfer period, Liverpool is again close to signing the 25-year-old midfielder.

Adam made his Premier League debut last season and tallied 13 goals in 36 appearances for the Seasiders. He was a nominee for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award.

Liverpool and Tottenham were engaged in negotiations with Blackpool to sign Adam in January, but a deal was never completed.

For now the Scottish phenom has publicly remained loyal to Blackpool but confirmed he has been in discussions about joining the Reds.

"I had a conversation with the chairman but that will remain private," Adam said. "It's important that we keep everything in-house. Whatever happens will happen."

Kenny Danglish already spent £20million on midfielder Jordan Henderson in June. A deal with Adam would believed to be in the £10 million range.
