Jamie Carragher Rates Luis Suarez as the Best Striker in the English Premier League Veteran Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher heaped praise on his Uruguayan teammate Luis Suarez, rating him as the best striker in the English Premier League. He told talkSport that seeing Suarez work on a daily basis has convinced him that the Reds have a special talent in their midst.

He said, “Sometimes you think you are signing a great player and you have different opinions about them. But it is only when you train with them every day that you know their strengths and weaknesses.

“I know there are great players in the league. Aguero has started great, Rooney has started great, all these different players, but I can honestly say, without bias, I wouldn’t swap him for anyone.

“I’m not saying these players aren’t as good as him but, for me, I wouldn’t swap him for anyone. I think he’s fantastic.”

Suarez joined the club from Ajax Amsterdam last January in a deadline-day transfer worth £22.7 million ($35.7 million). He has scored nine goals in 22 games for Liverpool and has quickly become a key figure in manager Kenny Dalglish’s team.

Carragher has appeared in 676 matches for Liverpool since making his debut in 1997. He has captained the team in the absence of Steve Gerrard in recent months.
