The Chicago White Sox have a new manager, and it's not former Red Sox manager Terry Francona.

The club announced on Thursday afternoon that former White Sox third baseman Robin Ventura will become the team's 38th manager. Ventura replaces Ozzie Guillen who requested to be released from his contract as manager and signed on as manager of the Marlins after the request was granted.

Ventura was part of the White Sox organization from 1989 through 1998 where he played 1,254 regular-season games primarily at third base.
