FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots defensive ends Andre Carter and Mark Anderson have had a good laugh this week over the Sackgate non-scandal that took a record away from Carter.

Carter was initially credited with a franchise-record 4 1/2 sacks during the team's victory Sunday against the Jets. But the NFL reviews every sack each Tuesday with Elias Sports Bureau, and they determined the half sack should belong wholly to Anderson. Still, it doesn't happen very often when a statistic is taken away.

"It's totally fine," Carter said. "Sacks in general are hard to come by. I was happy just as a team to go out there and play our game. That's the most important thing."

Carter and Anderson both found out about the statistical change when informed by different reporters, and they actually hadn't spoken about it as of Saturday afternoon.

"I don't know what happened about that," Anderson laughed. "Everybody is trying to eat."

They both took it in stride, and Carter didn't seem to mind it at all. The Patriots still came away with their biggest victory of the regular season, got their pass rush going full tilt and Carter was named the AFC's Defensive Player of the Week.

"Regardless, four sacks is something that is hard to come by for any player," Carter said. "It's definitely a blessed performance. I thank God for everything. That's definitely a definitely a game I'll remember, put in your hip pocket and keep going."
