Tom Huddlestone on Damien Comolli's Radar as Possible Liverpool SigningTom Huddlestonecould be on his way to Anfield in January. The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool is considering adding the player to its bulging midfield corps.

"Anfield director of football Damien Comolli— who took Huddlestone from Derby to Tottenham in 2005 — believes he can tempt the 24-year-old away from London now," the report reads.

Huddlestone joined Tottenham in 2005 from Derby County for £2.5 million ($4 million). Comolli was Tottenham's director of football at the time.

The midfielder was a regular for Spurs during for his first five seasons there. Injuries and the addition of talented players like Scott Parker, Luka Modric and Sandro has seen him drop in the midfield pecking order in the last two campaigns.

He has only appeared four times this season and is currently recovering from right ankle surgery. He should return to action by the end of the month, but his path into the team is blocked by the afformentioned players. Huddlestone will likely appear in cup and Europa League games, while he battles for a place in the team for league games.

Tottenham's season is off to a fine start. It is currently in fifth place in the English Premier League and involved in the Europa League. Spurs are one of Liverpool's main challengers for a top-four finish and a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League.

The gifted passer would add another dimension to the Liverpool midfield. In addition to his size and experience, he has the ability to hit accurate passes -– both short and long -– from a deep-lying position in the midfield. It would add a more direct aspect to Liverpool's attacking play, which would be beneficial against opponents who like to attack with numbers.
