Torii Hunter was placed on the restricted list by the Angels on Monday, ostensibly to attend to family matters after his son was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

The team announced that Hunter was placed on the restricted list "for personal reasons" and that Ryan Langerhans would be called up to the major leagues to take his place. Hunter will not count on the team's 25- or 40-man rosters while he is away from the team.

Hunter's son, 17-year-old Darius McClinton-Hunter, was arrested along with four other high school students in Texas for charges related to sexual assault. At this time, Hunter has not made any further statement regarding the matter.

The Los Angeles outfielder is batting .256 on the year, with five home runs and 15 RBIs.
