Toshihiro Aoyama, a midfielder for Japanese soccer club Sanfrecce Hiroshima, helped answer the (age-old?) question on Saturday.
Aoyama scored a goal that would normally merit a story on its own. But his team’s celebration may have outshined the goal itself.
In the sixth minute, he collected a loose ball, looked up, and lobbed the shot over the goalkeeper … from around 70 yards away. It was truly a stunning goal.
For the celebration, his teammates lined up in the formation of ten bowling pins. Aoyama rolled an imaginary ball down the imaginary lane knocking down eight pins. But he was left with the dreaded “7-10 split.” It was no problem for the talented defensive midfielder. He picked up the spare on his next roll.
