Klaas-Jan Huntelaar 'Disappointed and Angry' Over Substitute Role at Euro 2012Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will be a substitute when the Netherlands opens its Euro 2012 campaign against Denmark. On Tuesday he showed signs of "disappointment and anger" after the training session of the "Oranje" in Krakow, Poland.

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk told the Schalke 04 striker last Friday — the last day of practice in Hoenderlo, Netherlands — that Robin van Persie was to be the lone striker in his team's opening game on June 9.

"I'm disappointed and angry," Huntelaar said on Tuesday. "Now, I prefer to keep training hard. It makes no sense to speak."

Huntelaar was the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 29 goals last season. The former AC Milan and Real Madrid striker was also the top scorer of the qualifiers for Euro 2012 (all groups), with 12 goals in ten games.

Huntelaar had claims of being a starter in the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine. Van Marwijk opted for a system with a single attacker, choosing van Persie who was the top scorer in England's Premier League with 30 goals.

Doubts persisted because van Persie did not perform well with the Netherlands in the 2010 FIFA World Cup (1 goal in seven games). On Saturday, the last friendly before Euro against Northern Ireland, van Persie justified the confidence of his coach by scoring two goals and assisting on two more to give his team a 6-0 win.

According to the Dutch press, fans would rather see the "Hunter" Huntelaar as a starter in the debut game of the "Oranje".
