After getting shut out in Game 1, Boston’s bats came to play in Game 2. The hits didn’t come easily, and they didn’t come quickly, but true to Red Sox fashion, Boston was able to grind out the unbelievable victory, tying up the series at one game apiece.
David Ortiz came through with the biggest — literally and figuratively — swing of the night, hitting a game-tying grand slam in the eighth inning to breathe some much-needed life into his team and into Red Sox Nation. Boston didn’t even need extra innings to secure the victory as the Sox sealed the win in the bottom of the ninth.
Jarrod Saltalmacchia singled home Jonny Gomes to complete the stunning come-from-behind victory.
