Sam McGuffie, Former YouTube Sensation, Signed to Patriots’ Practice Squad (Video)

FOXBORO, Mass. — Cue the Danny Woodhead comparisons. Actually, please don’t.

The New England Patriots signed undrafted free agent running back Sam McGuffie to their practice squad to replace Cierre Wood, who was released.

McGuffie played at Michigan and Rice. He began his career as a running back before moving to wide receiver for his senior season.

McGuffie had 358 carries for 1,543 yards and 10 touchdowns in his college career. He also had 121 catches for 1,234 yards and 10 touchdowns. He had 54 receptions for 603 yards and five scores as a senior.

McGuffie, who’s 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at Rice’s Pro Day. He had a freakish 3.93-second 20-yard shuttle and 6.57-second 3-cone drill time. He spent time with the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals earlier this season.

McGuffie is best known for his high school highlight reels, which became a YouTube sensation. Check out one of the clips below.
