The New England Patriots would like to bring back wide receiver Julian Edelman, but he’s “drawing heavy interest” on the free-agent market.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun and Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports provided the latest reports via Twitter.

The 27-year-old receiver also was spotted on the Cleveland Browns’ free-agent board, which leaked Wednesday afternoon.

Edelman is one of the top free agents available, as a receiver capable of excelling on the outside or in the slot. He led the Patriots in receptions (105), receiving yards (1,056) and touchdowns (six) last season, and he also showed improved durability by playing in all 16 games for the first time in his NFL career.

Given the Patriots’ lack of elite talent at receiver, re-signing Edelman should be a priority for head coach Bill Belichick and his staff.
