Twins’ Triple-A Team Tosses Strange No-Hitter In Two Different States

Red Wings Combined no-hitters are nothing new in baseball, but what the Rochester Red Wings did on Monday might be the strangest combined no-hitter ever.

The no-no that the Minnesota Twins Triple-A affiliate accomplished against the Durham Bulls took 18 days to complete, and took place in two different states by two different pitchers, one of whom is currently in the Major Leagues.

So, how is this possible?

The game began on July 24 in Rochester, N.Y., where Trevor May, who made his MLB debut with the Twins on Saturday, threw three no-hit innings against the Bulls. But the game was suspended until this past Monday in Durham, N.C., because of inclement weather.

That’s where Logan Darnell took over for the Red Wings in the fourth inning and mowed down the Bulls’ hitters for the next six innings. He didn’t allow a hit as he lead the Red Wings to a 3-0 victory and one strange no-hitter.

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported that Darnell texted May, who was in Houston with the Twins, after the no-hitter to tell him the news, and May responded, “Boom! That’s awesome!”

As strange as it was, it’s still a no-hitter and it’s something that the Red Wings will take.
