Stoke City players and fans who still are wondering how their team lost Tuesday’s Premier League game against Manchester should look no further than David de Gea and Ashley Young.
Stoke City had three golden opportunities to score the game-tying goal in second-half stoppage time, but Manchester United goalkeeper de Gea and defender Young each made outstanding saves, which secured the Red Devils’ win 2-1 over the Potters.
De Gea’s first heroic moment came in the third minute of added time came when he stopped Mame Biram Diouf with a reflex save that’s a sure-fire contender for “save of the season.”

Stoke City wasn’t finished pressuring Manchester United, and De Gea wasn’t finished rebuffing the visitors. However, de Gea had help this time. The Spanish stopper first blocked Marko Arnautovic’s shot from point-blank range. Diouf then collected the rebound and would have scored had Young not cleared his shot off the goal-line.
