Brady Poppinga: Bears Can Swallow Hard, Cut Bait With Jay Cutler

Popular opinion holds that the Chicago Bears are stuck with Jay Cutler and his untradeable contract. That might not be entirely true.

Ridding themselves of Cutler might be difficult for the Bears, but not downright impossible if they take the right approach, former NFL linebacker Brady Poppinga writes on FootballbyFootball.com. Cutler has loads of guaranteed money left on his contract and not much to show for it from a performance standpoint, but Chicago potentially could find a way to part with Cutler while also lessening its financial obligation to the underwhelming quarterback.

Of course, that approach would probably involve paying Cutler to play for someone else — but Bears fans might actually consider that a positive development.
