Ben Roethlisberger Injury: Steelers Not Ruling Out QB For Week 10 Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers probably won’t have starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, but there’s still a chance he might suit up.

Big Ben suffered a foot injury that forced him to leave Pittsburgh’s Week 9 matchup with the Oakland Raiders. Backup quarterback Landry Jones led the Steelers to victory with a fourth-quarter comeback, improving the team’s record to 5-4.

Jones is the best bet to start against the Browns, but Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters Tuesday that the door for Ben playing is “just slightly ajar,” per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday, citing a source, that Roethlisberger was expected to be sidelined a few weeks with a mid-foot sprain. The Steelers have a Week 11 bye, so it might benefit them to rest Roethlisberger on Sunday and give him at least two weeks to heal. They don’t even need him to beat the Browns, who sit at the bottom of the AFC North at 2-7 and give up 27.4 points per game.
