David Ortiz knows as well as anyone that you need pitching to win the World Series.

The legendary Boston Red Sox slugger has seen his share of fine pitching performances in his decade-plus tenure with the club, a run that includes three championships.

On Friday, Ortiz did a live Q&A on The Players’ Tribune, and he was asked about the Red Sox’s reported acquisition of David Price, one of the best starting pitchers in baseball.

“It’s great to have him on my team,” Ortiz said. “David is the (kind of) pitcher who has great stuff. Very young, very talented.”

Ortiz was asked about a number of other topics and people, including Pedro Martinez, Johnny Damon and his swimming ability (or lack thereof).

Ortiz also noted his respect for New York Yankees fans. Red Sox fans gave Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter a great sendoff in his final game at Fenway Park last season, and it wouldn’t be surprising if New York fans do the same for Big Papi during his final at-bat in the Bronx.
