Xander Bogaerts Helps Out Red Sox Outfielders With Over-The-Shoulder Catch

In case you’re new around here, Xander Bogaerts is really good at baseball.

The Boston Red Sox shortstop has been a hitting machine. The 23-year-old also has been playing the field at a level comparable to the best  shortstops in 2016. And Bogaerts did that once again Friday against the Oakland Athletics.

Oakland’s Jake Smolinski put a ball in no-man’s land in shallow left-center field in the sixth inning, and Red Sox outfielders Jackie Bradley Jr. and Brock Holt had a lot of ground to cover to make it there. But Bogaerts flipped off his hat and ran to make the catch over his shoulder instead.

Bogaerts’ web gem had plenty of competition for the spotlight in this game, though, as Boston won 16-2 and third baseman Yoan Moncada made his MLB debut.
