Boston Bruins fans have witnessed the present and future of their blue line this season.

While captain Zdeno Chara has spent his 12th season in Boston anchoring the team’s defensive corps, several young defensemen, most notably Charlie McAvoy, have shown that the future of Boston’s blue line appears to be in very good hands.

Chara and McAvoy have played most of the season together on the Bruins’ top pairing, and they’ve formed one of the best D-men duos in the NHL.

Chara shared an Instagram post of the two Monday, and instead of the usual long caption and message, the B’s captain needed just a few words to describe the tone of the picture: “Power of two generations.”

Bruins fans should see Chara and McAvoy together again on the top pairing by the time the Stanley Cup playoffs arrive, or possibly even sooner.
