Alonso was using some of UCLA’s facilities with his Real Madrid teammates, when someone broke out some bats, balls and gloves.
The Spanish midfielder played a little catch, while his teammates tried in vain to hit soft-toss pitches. After Kaka whiffed on an underhanded pitch, Alonso stepped in and showed him how it’s done.
He took one swing and launched a ball into the distance. Since cameras didn’t show where it landed, we’ll have to assume it splashed somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.
Arizona Diamondbacks players Gerardo Parra and Miguel Montero were on hand to witness the shot, but they couldn’t have been too impressed with the skills of Alonso’s teammates. Kaka and Gonzalo Higuain looked hopeless in the batter’s box, while the slap-hitting Jose Callejon ran in the direction of third base after making contact.
To nobody’s surprise Cristiano Ronaldo declined to participate in the fun and games.
Watch Real Madrid players try baseball in the video below (and watch out for that ball Alonso hit).
