Braves Manager Bobby Cox to Retire After 2010
An era will soon be coming to an end in Atlanta.

Legendary Braves manager Bobby Cox — who has commandeered the team since 1990 — will retire at the end of the 2010 season. According to ESPN.com, he signed a one-year contract extension with Atlanta on Wednesday and then will begin a five-year consulting agreement to advise the club in baseball operations.

Cox, 68, also managed the Braves from 1978-1981 before jumping ship for Toronto from 1982 to 1985. After a five-year hiatus, he returned to Atlanta in 1990.

During his tenure, the Braves won 14 consecutive NL East titles. They advanced to the World Series five times since Cox's second stint began and won it all in 1995. Cox owns a career .556 winning percentage in 28 years as a manager (2408-1924).
