First Kobe Bryant, then Joakim Noah. Now, DeSean Jackson and Gordon Beckham have added to the list of athletes to come under fire for using gay slurs.

Beckham had inscribed "GETZ IS GAY! G.B." in the dirt at his second base position on Monday night against the Royals, referring to Kansas City's Chris Getz. He later apologized for his actions, according to ESPN.com. Beckham said the description was only a joke, as he and Getz used to be teammates on the White Sox.

Jackson, on the other hand, is not apologizing for comments he made on Sirius XM's All Out Show with Rude Jude and Lord Sear on June 30. Jackson used gay slurs in response to a question regarding his toughness. But rather than apologize, Jackson took to Twitter, as has become a trend with athletes, and insisted he is standing his ground.

The Eagles wide receiver responded to the negative criticism by saying, in all capitals, "They looking to take ya down at all times no matter how positive and what you do! It's always a way they try to get ya. I'm standing tall."

CSNPhilly could not get a comment from the Eagles, while The Philadelphia Inquirer did not get a comment from Jackson or agent Drew Rosenhaus. ESPN contacted Greg Aiello, the NFL's spokesman, but he also declined to comment.
