Robbie Fowler Interested in Vacant Northern Ireland Head Coaching PostFormer Liverpool star Robbie Fowler is interested in the vacant head coach of Northern Ireland job. The 36-year-old is playing and coaching in Thailand and wants to land a job in the UK, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Plymouth Argyle forward Warren Feeney confirmed Fowler's interest in the position. He said, "I've been speaking to Robbie and he is very keen on the Northern Ireland job. He's an ambitious young manager who believes he has the ability to turn around Northern Ireland's fortunes and he'll be applying.

"He's doing well in Thailand but sees the Northern Ireland job as a wonderful opportunity."

Fowler has been in charge of reigning Thai champions Muangthong United and led it to victories in his two games at the helm. He has taken coaching courses in the U.K. including a stop in Ulster, N.I.

He starred for Liverpool from 1992-2001. He was sold to Leeds in 2001 and played at Elland Road and Manchester City before making a dramatic return to Merseyside in 2006. That stay would last a little over a year. In total, he made 369 appearances and scored 183 goals for the Reds. All one needs to know about his time at Anfield is that Liverpool supporters nicknamed him "God."

Lawrie Sanchez, Jim Magilton, Ian Dowie and Kevin Keegan have all been mentioned in connection to the job.
