Liverpool Drawn Against Manchester City in Carling Cup Semi-Final, Second Leg to Be Played at AnfieldLiverpool will meet Manchester City in the Carling Cup semi-finals. Wednesday’s draw pits the Reds against City in a two-game series between English Premier League foes.

Manchester City will host the first semi-final leg at Etihad Stadium during the week of Jan. 9, 2012. It will likely take place on Tuesday or Wednesday of that week. Anfield is the site of the deciding game, which will be played the week of Jan. 23, 2012. 

Liverpool advanced after beating Chelsea 2-0 in Tuesday’s quarterfinal. Craig Bellamy starred as the Reds beat the Blues at Stamford Bridge for the second time in ten days.

City defeated Arsenal 1-0 on Tuesday.

The LFC-City winner will be the overwhelming favorite to win the competition as two Championsip clubs will contest the other semi-final. Crystal Palace meets Cardiff City after both downed EPL clubs (Manchester United and Blackburn, respectively) in the quarterfinals.
