Joe DiMaggio Supports Sheriff Candidate in Florida Despite Being DeadWe've all seen how politicians calling on sports stars can go wrong (Manny Ortez, anyone?), but how about sports stars endorsing politicians from the grave?

New York Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio seems to think Louie Granteed, a candidate for Broward County sheriff in Florida, is good for the job, according to the Sun Sentinel.

The only hitch? DiMaggio has been dead for 13 years.

Technically, the endorsement is signed by "Joe DiMaggio and Friends," and anyone with knowledge of the Hall of Fame slugger knows that his estate continues to make remarks, donations and the like. The backing came from DiMaggio's longtime lawyer, Morris Engleberg.

Still, promises of an endorsement and fundraiser from the Yankee Clipper seem to be a bit of a stretch.
