Kobe Bryant has done some great things throughout his NBA career. He's won five NBA titles and is a 14-time All-Star and a two-time league scoring champion.
Those are all great achievements, but does that make him the "The Great One"?
Wayne Gretzky is the only athlete fit for that nickname, and a quick look at the hockey great's impressive resume is sufficient reasoning. That doesn't mean Bryant can't try to gather inspiration from Gretzky, though.
Bryant was recently spotted rocking a Gretzky jersey from when Gretzky played with the Edmonton Oilers. Perhaps Bryant was hoping to channel his inner Great One now that his Los Angeles Lakers are trailing in their Western Conference semifinals series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
If Bryant is going to capture his sixth career NBA championship, he is going to have to do so with a far less talented supporting cast this time around. Bryant will have to be truly great to make that happen.
