This is a moment Melky Cabrera would probably like to have back.

During the third inning of Thursday night’s Blue Jays-Angels game, Erick Aybar hit a single to Cabrera in left. Ordinarily, this would be common practice for Cabrera, who would simply pick the ball up and fire it to the cutoff man. But this was nothing close to ordinary.

Cabrera indeed picked the ball up. He wound up to throw the ball to the infield, but there was only one problem — the ball fell out of his hands as he cocked back. He recovered and ended up doing it right the second time, but it was too late. Mark Trumbo, who started at first base, had already rounded third by the time Cabrera picked up the ball, and easily crossed home plate to increase the Angels’ lead to 6-0.
