Devin McCourty Didn’t See Tom Brady’s Statement: ‘Haven’t Checked Facebook’

FOXBORO, Mass. — Devin McCourty doesn’t roll out of bed and immediately check his social media accounts. Otherwise, he would have seen Tom Brady’s lengthy statement, posted Friday night.

“I haven’t checked my Facebook yet,” McCourty said with a smile when asked what he thought of Brady’s words.

It was the first time Brady addressed U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman’s decision to overturn his four-game suspension. Brady thanked his teammates for being supportive during the seven-month Deflategate ordeal.

“I think the good thing is that’s over with,” McCourty said. “I think for right now, we as a team, we just want to talk about this game on Thursday night and be ready to go. I’m not even going to talk about what happened in the past with that situation. I think it’s good for him, good for the team and now, just getting ready for Thursday.”

The Patriots mostly have been mum on Brady’s overturned suspension since news broke Thursday morning. That directive likely is coming straight from the top, since Bill Belichick also hasn’t had much to say about his quarterback.

“You should talk to Tom about any of that,” Belichick said when asked about Brady’s statement.

Perhaps we will when the quarterback addresses the media for the first time this summer — whenever that will be.
