FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots starting center Bryan Stork will need to recover quickly if he hopes to play in Thursday night’s season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Stork remained out of practice Tuesday as he recovers from a concussion. Stork missed all four Patriots preseason games before returning to practice Saturday. He was absent for practice Sunday and Monday.

Practice-squad offensive lineman Chris Barker, who’s dealing with a high ankle sprain, wasn’t at practice for the second consecutive day.

Defensive tackle Khyri Thornton, who was claimed off waivers from the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, was on the field after not being spotted Monday. Offensive lineman Cameron Fleming also practiced after signing to the Patriots’ practice squad Monday.

Veteran offensive lineman Ryan Wendell likely will play center in the Patriots’ season opener if Stork cannot.
