Rob Gronkowski’s brother again is off the New England Patriots’ practice squad.

The Patriots released fullback Glenn Gronkowski on Monday and signed linebacker Trevor Bates to replace him on the practice squad. Gronkowski originally signed to the Patriots’ practice squad Oct. 1 before being released Oct. 12 and re-signed Oct. 17. He began his NFL career with the Buffalo Bills, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in May.

Bates worked out for the Patriots last month. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts out of Maine. The 6-foot-2, 247-pound linebacker ran a 4.78-second 40-yard dash at his pro day in March with a 6.75-second 3-cone, 4.25-second short shuttle, 33.5-inch vertical leap and 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump.

Bates played in one game with the Colts this season but didn’t record a tackle.
